Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a school teacher to join?

All courses are open to teachers of any kind. Public and private educators and studio teachers are welcome.

Persons currently undertaking a course to become a qualified dance teacher (inclusive of Cert IV and Diploma) are also welcome.

We are also open to dance students in Higher Education, recent graduates, or freelance artists looking to pursue teaching as a career adjunct or transition. You must be actively pursuing teaching work to ensure these courses are right for you. Please contact us if you have any questions about suitability.

What level of experience do I need to participate?

Our PDL courses are designed for current dance teachers, therefore, a foundational level of dance knowledge is assumed, gained from either academic qualification or professional dance experience. Teachers by no means have to identify as advanced dancers, as the content we cover in our PDL courses goes in depth into how to teach the skills and pedagogical approaches.

Being able to practically engage in the courses are necessary, but if you have previous injuries or physical limitations, modifications are provided and an environment of ‘safety first’ is always at the forefront.

I manage a group of teachers, how can I send multiple people to Movement Momentum courses?

Heads of Department and Studio Owners have two options for delivering PD to their team members:

  1. Bring Movement Momentum to your location for a tailored PDL workshop or course. This can be a part of our existing offerings or cover a more specific area of content. Fill out the form on our contact page to enquire.

  2. Email us at info@movementmomentum.com.au to discuss a group discount for your teachers to one of our scheduled short courses or workshops. This is open to groups for 3 or above working at the same school/studio.

Do I have to bring my own partner to the Partnering Workshop?

No, you don’t! The partnering workshop will involve working with other participants, with everyone learning both roles in order to understand the mechanics and technique.

If you would like to bring a partner to work with, a discount code will be available for ticket orders that purchase two spots in the workshop. See our instagram (@movementmomentum_) or email us to get the code.

How do Movement Momentum courses contribute to my required PDL hours?

Movement Momentum courses can be included in your ‘teacher identified’ PDL hours. Total hours are listed in the course descriptions, and the NESA standards our PDL aligns with are 2.2, 2.6, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, relevant to graduate, proficient, highly accomplished and lead teachers. We are currently working on gaining NESA approval.
